Imagery, motion and sound

  • Drawn or animated scenes over stock. Keep one coherent drawn style per film or page.
  • AI photos only briefly, in the background. Never hold long shots or close-ups of AI-generated people. People notice. Decided 23 Oct 2026, after the cleaner drawn version of /b-is-for-business was preferred.
  • No made-up numbers. If a picture shows a price or amount, it must be real, or clearly labelled EXAMPLE.
  • No copyrighted art. Use our own art, public-domain or CC0 works. For emoji use Twemoji (CC BY), never Apple emoji art.

Photos versus drawn scenes. Today’s rule wins over the earlier photoreal brief: use drawn and animated scenes first. Use photos, AI-made or not, briefly and in the background. Decided 23 Oct 2026.

Decided 12 Oct 2026.

  • Show media (video, pictures, NFTs) edge to edge in its own aspect ratio, phone first.
  • No frames, borders or gold surrounds on the picture itself. Style the information and actions around it.
  • Behave natively on iPhone: plays inline, short clips autoplay muted and loop, tap to unmute, native fullscreen, no black flash.
  • No left/right scrolling strips. No sideways carousels, chip strips or snap rows. Use wrapping grids or vertical lists, so nothing hides off screen. Decided 19 Oct 2026.
  • The one exception is the Feed icon row (Home, bApps, bMovies … All feeds), which scrolls sideways with a right fade at the owner’s request. Don’t turn it into a grid.
  • A single card carousel with dots needs the owner’s OK.
  • Letter-by-letter rise. Display headings arrive one letter at a time, rising out of a blur.
  • Slow logo glow. The b breathes with a slow gold glow, no faster than a few seconds per cycle.
  • Crossfades between scenes.
  • CSS transitions, not restarting keyframes, for photo zooms and scene changes, so nothing snaps.
  • Reduced motion. Respect prefers-reduced-motion: show the end state, drop the movement, keep the content.

Campaign films start behind a play gate.

  • A big, solid gold, round play button that pulses gently.
  • A bold uppercase label under it, such as “PLAY THE FILM · 0:40”.
  • A quiet text link for people who’d rather skip.
  • Sound only starts after the visitor taps.
  • Campaign pages can play like short ads, with animation and music. Each page has its own feel. Decided 23 Oct 2026.
  • Use VexVoid tracks. Calm, not hectic.
  • Credit every track on the page, with its title and artist.
  • Real tracks or a score made in the browser are both fine; what matters is that it sounds good. The owner liked the browser-made funk score on /b-creative (16 Oct 2026) and rejected the piano-and-strings one first tried on /b-is-for-business (23 Oct 2026), then a fast track as “too fast and hectic”. Business pages use calm VexVoid tracks (Phantom Echoes, 92 bpm).
  • Sound is off until the visitor asks for it, and fades in.
