Identity and profile

Your identity is the key your wallet uses to say “this is me”. Names, your profile and every signature you make point back to it.

Set a display name, a bio and an avatar in Settings. They follow you into chat, the feed and the Market.

No picture? You get a bAvatar: a gold-on-black avatar made from your name, never a grey placeholder.

Settings › Connect X or Google: sign in with X or Google to prove you own that account. You get a verified name, such as name.x, with your photo.

Settings lists every name your wallet receives at: paymail, $handle, verified names. Each one can be unlinked with one tap (Names).

Settings › Identity › Identity map draws your account as one picture: your recovery words → your identity key → the keys grown from it for each purpose → every name that points at them.

It shows public values only, never a private key. If two names point at keys that don’t belong together, the map flags the mix-up.

You’re told when your $handle signs in somewhere new. Settings › Recent sign-ins lists each sign-in with where and when. If one wasn’t you, change your password and remove unknown websites (Settings › Websites).

Some things need a real-world ID check, such as company shares. Settings › Verify your identity runs one through bit-sign. You only need it when something asks for it. The check gives you a certificate. Your documents go to the checking service, not into your wallet’s public data.

Settings › Delete account data removes your paymail, profile and messages from our servers. Your keys and money are unaffected; they were never with us.
